Born and raised on a farm in neighboring Becker County, Steve has called Hubbard County home after marrying his wife of now 31 years.  Raising two children in Hubbard County, and now grandparents of three, Steve and Jennifer continue to value what small-town communities have to offer growing families.

Steve enlisted in the U.S. Army directly after high school, serving in a Military Intelligence Battalion in the 82nd Airborne Division, and afterward serving in the Minnesota Army National Guard for an additional four years.

Steve earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography, Park, Recreation, and Land Use Planning from Bemidji State University.  Working in many different employment occupations in northern Minnesota, Steve has varied work experience, including 20 years of county work experience.  Steve is currently employed as a Senior Engineering Technician in the Cass County Highway Department.

Over the past 20+ years, Steve has appreciated local government and has served on the Akeley City Council, and the Mantrap Township Board in several capacities, including planning commission member, election judge, and township supervisor.  Steve now looks forward to the opportunity to serve District 4 and Hubbard County as commissioner.  Steve recognizes that a commissioner is just one voice that represents many, and welcomes your thoughts and opinions on how your government should be directed.
