District 2 - Charlene Christenson

District 2 Serves:

City of Park Rapids lying west of US Hwy 71;
Arago Township;
Todd Township, except for Section 36

Charlene (Char) Christenson believes that all who desire have a voice in government and has been involved in the grass roots level of government since 1998, having served as a Clerk for Cormorant Township, Becker County (1998-2003) and Supervisor/Board Chair for Arago Township, Hubbard County (2007-2016). Christenson also served on the Planning Commission/Board of Adjustment (2013-2016) and the Housing Redevelopment Authority (2013-2016) for Hubbard County until her appointment to District 2 County Commissioner, July 5, 2016.

The love of the “Up North” motivated Christenson and her husband, Jerry, to move the Park Rapids area in 2005. Christenson attended North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND, majoring in Accounting. She was a stay-at-home mom raising their children; a son, Jeremiah, and a daughter, Ana, both whom are married and have blessed Charlene and Jerry with five grandchildren. Christenson was on staff at Northland Christian Counseling Center as Director of Finance and Donor Development prior to being appointed to commissioner.

As commissioner, Christenson serves on several committees including; Economic Development, DNR Trails, Heritage Living Center, Housing Redevelopment Authority, Employee Benefits, Classification, Labor Negotiations, Mahube-OTWA, Minnesota Counties Intergovernmental Trust, Northwest Health Insurance, Prime West Health, and Council on Aging and Nutrition.
