Extension Newsletter For June!
A message from the Extension Educator...
Summer is here, and so is a fresh batch of news, tools, and inspiration for those who care about gardens, small farms, and natural spaces. This month, I'm excited to introduce a new section: Featured Flora—a spotlight on unique or useful plants you might want to know more about.
You’ll also find tips for building raised beds, learn about the Plant Elements of Design selection tool, and get a sneak peek at Garden Stroll 2025. We’re covering pollinator concerns like winter honey bee losses and pesticide risks, sharing updates from Roots and Rotation in Park Rapids, and highlighting how communities are responding to wildfire smoke. And don’t forget—the Hubbard County Needs Assessment Survey is still open for your input. Your thoughts and feedback are incredibly valuable—they help shape the programs and resources that can make a difference in our community.
Also, if you are in need for any mulch to spruce up your landscape this summer, the South Transfer Station in Park Rapids has mulch for $10 per yard available. Hubbard County has mulched a large amount of tree limbs and branches this year, instead of burning them. Great deal if you are planning any big landscaping projects!
If you have any suggestions for topics you'd like to see in this newsletter, feel free to email, call, or text me. I look forward to connecting with you!
