On September 5, 2023, the County Board of Commissioners adopted Amendment 21 to the Shoreland Management Ordinance (SMO) that will take effect on September 23, 2023 when notice of the amendment's adoption is published in the Park Rapids Enterprise. The amendment involved changes to the professional services business use category in Section 401, Table 1. On natural environment classified lakes, this use will change from a non-permitted use to a conditional use with an accompanying performance standard that the use can only occur landward of Tier 1 (i.e. ordinary high water mark [OHW] to 400' landward of the OHW). On river segment classifications aside from special protection classified river segments, this use will change from a conditional use to a non-permitted use.  The notice of adoption of Amendment 21 to the SMO can be viewed by clicking here.
