Outdoor recreation is an important part of early childhood development and for a healthy lifestyle. The Hubbard County Parks and Recreation Department encourages healthy living by offering multiple opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors.

Heartland Park is located in Park Rapids next to the Fish Hook River. The Park has the following amenities to offer: 3 picnic shelters, playground equipment, a horseshoe court, a pickleball court, a basketball court, a softball field, a public access, a fishing pier, a frisbee golf course, a public swimming beach and restrooms. It also is at the start of the Heartland Trail.

Lake George Community Park is in Lake George on Paine Lake. The park has the following amenities to offer: 3 picnic shelters, playground equipment, a basketball court, a softball field, a public access, a swimming beach and a restroom. The park is maintained by the township.

Farris Park is located in Farden Township. The park has the following amenities to offer: 2 picnic shelters, playground equipment, a softball field, basketball courts, a tennis/pickleball court, a restroom and a paved walking trail. This park is maintained by the township.

The Hubbard County Parks and Recreation Department also maintains 25 public boat accesses throughout the county, the wayside rest north of Dorset, and four public beaches: Stony Lake, Fish Hook River at Heartland Park, and Garfield Lake near Laporte, and Paine Lake at Lake George Community Park.
